P.S. 175
We partnered with this school to build consensus/community and, to inevitably revitalize a 3,000 square foot space for the school and the community.
It starts with a blank canvas and stakeholders ready to put some sweat equity in the game. This project was no different. There was a dilapidated garden of 3,000 square feet closed to the community and school. It was owned by the Parks Department. The Rego Park Green Alliance wanted it revitalized! We saw the school mural project as a great way to get multiple stakeholders to come to the table.
We asked students from surrounding high schools to give their time and help the students paint. Students came from Metropolitan Expeditionary School, Townsend Harris, Bronx High School of Science, and Stuyvesant.
The colors could be easily seen one city block North of the mural. It was a reminder of what working together could do for the wall, and the community.
